There are two options for flying in to visit National Mill Dog Rescue:ĭenver International Airport – DIA is about 1 hour and 50 minutes from our facility, but has a larger variety of airlines and convenient arrival times.Ĭolorado Springs Airport– Conveniently located in Colorado Springs and only about 35 minutes from our facility, Colorado Springs Airport has shorter lines and less traffic. There are many fast food choices just fifteen minutes from our facility. We do have a refrigerator and microwave for you to use. Visiting volunteers are able to assist with a variety of tasks and you will be involved with cleaning, feeding, laundry, dog walking, individual socialization of dogs and of course puppy parties! We do suggest you bring a lunch and water or water bottles. After the orientation, you will be given a tour of the facility and then you will be able to help the dogs. You will also learn safety protocols and how to interact with our dogs. Find the sign with your states name on it for a photo youll treasure forever. When you look down, youll often see people enjoying the thrill of whitewater rafting with one of Colorados many qualified outfitters. The orientation will explain to you the history of NMDR and provide you an education on puppy mills. Royal Gorge Bridge - This famous suspension bridge is the highest in America.The wooden planks are 956 feet above the Arkansas River. On your first day visiting the facility, you will receive a brief orientation. Volunteering at National Mill Dog Rescue – what to expect Our Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to you with more details about volunteering at the kennel during your visit to the area. Please note: Youth volunteers need to be at least 13 and supervised by a parent or guardian. If you live outside the area and would like to volunteer for National Mill Dog Rescue, please email and include the following information: dates you plan to visit, the purpose for your visit and the ages of any children that may be with you.
